Ponies are not hard to find in the New Forest. They hang around the roads, especially in hot weather so drive with care and don’t do anything to attract them to your vehicle.
The foals are born in spring and grow very quickly, by summer they have lost some of their charm but are stiill fun to watch. Don’t try to approach too close – they are semi wild and there have been incidents where injuries have been caused – just enjoy from a distance.
In the Autumn the drifts take place when the ponies and foals are rounded up and branded – a great spectacle.
