Terms and Conditions

Thank you for choosing to stay with us at Furzehill Farm, we hope you enjoy your stay. Please find below the terms and conditions applicable to our site. We abbreviate Certificated Location to ‘CL’. We use the word ‘outfit’ as a generic term to describe a motorhome, campervan or a caravan towed by a car.

Our operating certificate is issued by the Caravan and Motorhome Club under Paragraph 5 of the First Schedule of The Caravan Sites and Control of Development Act, 1960.

Our CL operates by the following Caravan and Motorhome Club rules:

  • Only members of the Caravan and Motorhome Club on producing their membership cards may be accommodated on the CL, for the purposes of recreation.
  • Not more than 5 caravans, motor caravans or trailer tents may be stationed on the CL at any time.
  • No caravan or motor caravan shall be allowed to stay for more than 28 consecutive days.
  • No tent camping to be allowed on-site (only a small single-berth pup tent ancillary to the main outfit can be accepted).

You are required to give us your Caravan and Motorhome Club membership number when booking and we will check your current membership status with the Club before confirming your booking.  If you cease to be a member of the Club, you will not be allowed to stay here and any payment you have made will be forfeited unless we have enough time to re-let the pitch that you have booked.

Fees & Deposits

Our base level pitch fee for caravans and motorhomes is £25 per outfit per night.2

For one week or less we require a £50 deposit, subsequent weeks or part thereof will be an extra £25… so for example a 2 week stay would require a £75 deposit. If you advise us of cancellation not less than 2 months before the arrival date we will refund 50% of the deposit. As an alternative we can carry the whole amount of the deposit forward to a later booking. Less than 2 months before the arrival date the deposit is non-refundable.

Payment Methods

We no longer accept cash or cheques.  Your pitch fee is payable by Bank Transfer (BACS)  We do not take credit cards but PayPal is an option that allows payment by card even if you are not a PayPal ‘user’.

Refunds & Cancellations

  • If you have paid us and WE are required to close our site due to a local lockdown or other reason directly affecting our site, we will refund you.
  • If you have paid us and government travel restrictions mean that we cannot open or your home region is locked-down, will refund you, otherwise if YOU are unable to travel here for whatever reason (including you as individuals being required to self-isolate), there is no refund or postponement, and that becomes a matter for your travel insurance.
  • If you leave early, your pitch fee is not refundable or transferable (in practice, our experience is the opposite – many people ask to extend their stay here longer than their original booking).

If you need to cancel your booking please notify us as soon as possible so that we may re-offer the vacancy.

Payment of balance
You will be required to pay the balance of the pitch fee no less than 2 weeks before the arrival date. This can be paid by bank transfer in the same way as the deposit. This payment is non-refundable except in the case of lockdown although in exceptional circumstances we try and be flexible. Once again your travel insurance should cover you if you have to cancel.

Arrival & Departure

The CL site is not visible from our home. When you arrive please find a pitch and settle in. If you have a problem please phone us and we’ll drop by and help out.

Arrive after midday and vacate your pitch before 11.00 am on your day of departure. We do not currently allow earlier arrivals or later departures.  It is important that you depart no later than 11.00, ideally earlier, to allow us to prepare for the arrival of our next guests, including sanitising taps, electric hook-ups and other touch-points.

Dogs and other animals

We welcome dogs, please keep them on leads or within a vehicle, van or enclosure at all times. Poo pick and place bags in your own bin. Cats must be contained/restrained at all times and must not be allowed to roam free. Goats, Pigs and small horses might be permitted by previous discussion.

Guests accepting day-visitors

We have no problem with day visitors but please ask them to park sensibly and observe any current Covid regulations.

Cars

CLs are intended for recreational purposes and our expectation is that guests bring one car as the towing vehicle.  Large motorhomes occasionally bring a car as a ‘runaround’ vehicle.  If you wish to bring more than one car, please arrange this with us in advance.  We will require the registration numbers of the additional cars so that we know “who’s who” on site.

We do not allow charging of electric cars as it we have no way to charge £££  for the service. Electric bikes may be charged at no extra cost.

Electric Supply

We have 16A hookups and charge a flat-rate pitch fee inclusive of ‘reasonable use’ of electricity inside caravans or motorhomes.  We do not permit charging of electric cars or using electricity to heat awnings or use equipment (such as Fridges, Freezers, Tumble dryers)  outside the caravan or motorhome as we believe this is not ‘reasonable use’.  Likewise, we only permit one electrical connection per outfit and do not allow electrical ‘splitters’.

For economy and fire safety, switch heaters off unless you are on site.

Ground sheets

We are finding that awning ground sheets are becoming an increasing problem, they kill grass if left in place for more than a few days, even the breathable ones. We ask you to be considerate. After two or three days lift the sheet while you are out for the day to allow light to the grass. Don’t use impermeable plastic sheets.

Minimum stays

As a Certificated Location, Furzehill Farm CL only accepts 5 caravans at a time. In Low Season visitors may stay for as little as one night, but our site is so popular at peak season (June – August) that we only take advance bookings from people planning to stay for more than 3 nights.

Behaviour

In line with Caravan and Motorhome Club rules, we reserve the right to refuse acceptance or to terminate the visit of any person whose conduct, or that of their animals, is detrimental to us or to our other visitors.

Special Needs or Disabilities

We will do our best to accommodate special needs or disabilities. Please explain your needs at the time of booking in case we need to make special arrangements.

Loss & Damage

We will not be held responsible for any loss or damage, however caused, to your property or vehicles or any injury to you or your visitors whilst staying on our CL.
